Home Tip of the Month: Spring Cleaning

March 1, 2017 - By Resource

Are you looking to refresh and revive your home? By following these Spring Cleaning tips,  you can bring the energy into your home that you felt when you first moved in!

1. Refrigerator
The bubbling action of a mixture of salt and soda water creates a great non-toxic cleaner for your refrigerator.

2. Faucets
To get rid of buildup around the faucet is to wrap paper towels over the fixture and soak it in vinegar for an hour. The buildup will start to soften and become easier to remove!

3. Windows
Before you use your glass cleaner on the glass, dip a rag into a bucket of soapy water and clean the frames on the windows.

4. Couches
Since furniture got a lot of use over the winter, they have absorbed dirt, body oil, and germs. Rent a carpet cleaner to shampoo/condition the fabric to replenish it to mint condition.

5. Floors
Use a combination of water and wax cleaner that both cleans and shines your wood or tile floors.

6. Carpet/Rug
If you’re looking to bring life back into the carpet or your area rugs, vacuum them up and then add a generous amount of baking soda across the floor. The longer it sits, the better job it will do to to absorb the odor and discolor.

7. Walls & Baseboards
Although it may be hard to see, dust and dirt sticks to the walls of your home. Create two buckets; one full of water and the other of dish washing detergent solution. Dip a cloth in the dish washing detergent solution to wipe off the walls and baseboards, and make sure to clean off the cloth after every wipe to ensure you are getting the best clean! Wipe the excess water off the walls with a dry cloth.

8. Ceiling Fixtures/Vents
Spray a cleaning solution on the cloth and wipe off the dirt and dust that has collected on your fixtures. Have a vacuum handy to clean up any excess dust that falls off.
